A few weeks ago I got an opportunity to do a last minute long weekend girls trip to Columbus, OH. When my friend mentioned there was a food tour on the agenda, I was instantly all in! With three kids that can be picky eaters I was all for getting a good food adventure under my belt! I was thrilled when my new ZTE Grand X Max 2 phablet came in the mail the day before we left to share it all with you. I am not sure what I was more excited for! The food or the scenery! Thankfully, my new phablet from Cricket Wireless was a cinch to set up and I was ready to capture the best shots! Now, before you wonder if I made a typo, I really said phablet! Yes, the ZTE Grand X Max 2 is as a hybrid between a tablet and a phone and that is due to the generous 6’ FHD LCD display. I don’t always understand the specs in reading about it but once I started snapping it was easy to see that for the size, cost and ease of use this phablet was a winner from the first shot! Our first stop at the North Market was Hot Chicken Takeover. I had only heard of hot chicken and I was a little nervous. How hot could it be? Well, the answer was several degrees hotter and I was thankful for this medium hot sample! The chicken just melted in my mouth coupled with the family recipe for a vinegar based coleslaw was heaven! Seriously, my tastebuds were changed for the better here! Next we headed to Brezel. It was the brain child of a couple who has spent time in Germany and craved the Bavarian style pretzels they had on their journeys that they could not find in the states. I chose the cinnamon sugar pretzel. It was the perfect sweet and savory treat! I was really impressed with the ability of the ZTE Grand X Max 2 to pick up the detail of the food. This salad was designed by the Vegetable Butcher for the Little Eater and was all made with fresh locally grown veggies! It was delightful! I wish I could replicate this at home! It was light and super flavorful. Next stop was a sweet one again at Chocolique. We tried lavender and blue cheese chocolate! But, I fell in love with this sweet little cake in the display. The phablet had no issues taking pictures in this low light restaurant even through glass! On the next part of our tour we hit up this side street which was covered in a side ways interpretation of the Mona Lisa. It was striking! I was thankful that my ZTE Grand X Max 2 really caught the beauty of this piece. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of art in the Short North District. Our Food Tour host credits the thriving art scene for taking the reigns in revitalizing this area! Next up was Basi Italia and this is where my taste buds did more flips and I might have licked my plate. I have had a lot of green goddess salads in my day. This one was heads and tails above any of them I have ever tried. There was also a warm zucchini, almonds and parmesan “pasta” Now, when I say “pasta” I mean this was made with with no noodles but yet it had the taste and texture of the pasta my carb loving heart is used too! Totally worth the walk off the beaten path to hit up this quaint restaurant! Before we hit our last stop Jeni’s I was literally jaw dropping and drooling at the side of their building. I actually waited until the tour went inside so I could get a picture. If I was willing to be the last in line for ice cream than you know something struck a chord in me! But, not to fear! My phablet battery was still fully charged and they didn’t run out of any flavors! I tried the sweet corn and raspberries and the goat cheese and wild cherries. I might have wept a little when I was on the last bite. It was that good! I was so impressed with how the ZTE Grand X Max 2 was able to capture my food and art adventure and now that I am home my kids have been fighting for whose turn it is to use it. I can’t say that I blame them! Besides its graphics and large screen and a wide angle front camera it has some fun filters like a Bokeh effect and dual rear cameras. Yes, I said dual! As you can see it made all the difference in seeing depth and detail in the pictures! It also features some impressive specs in the audio and video department if you are into streaming and let’s face it, who in my house isn’t?! It’s a high powered LTE smartphone and it runs on android Marshmallow OS. It features Dolby Audio and Hi-Fi Music. If you find yourself in Columbus check out the Short North district!
